The State Police’s extraordinary operations, ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters to intensify territorial control and combat drug trafficking, continue.
Last evening, officers arrested a 57-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both from Naples. The man, who also had a criminal record for possession with intent to sell, was caught selling drugs on the street.
Observation near a commercial activity
The operation was conducted by officers from the Dante and Vicaria-Mercato police stations, who were carrying out a targeted surveillance operation against the two individuals, who were stopped near a commercial establishment.
During the stakeout, officers observed the 57-year-old man taking something from a backpack and handing it to an individual in exchange for money. The buyer then quickly left.
At that point, the operators intervened by blocking the two suspects to interrupt the illegal activity.
Drugs and cash on the suspects
During the check, the man was found in possession of 26 packages of hashish, 11 of marijuana, and 195 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations.
The 49-year-old, however, had with her 5 packages of hashish, 2 of marijuana and a 50 euro note.
House search: over 1,5 kg of marijuana found
Believing that there could be further elements connected to the drug dealing activity, the police extended the search to the suspects’ home.
Inside the apartment, three containers of marijuana, a package of hashish, a precision scale, packaging material, and €1.500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the crime, were found, well hidden.
The narcotic substance seized amounted to a total of 1,54 kilograms of marijuana and approximately 360 grams of hashish.
Arrest for possession with intent to deal
In light of the evidence gathered, the two suspects were arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
The operation is part of a plan of extraordinary controls launched by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug dealing, with particular attention to the most vulnerable urban areas.
