Japan: American woman arrested for importing marijuana liquid hidden in wheat bags

Nara Prefectural Police and Osaka Customs have arrested a 42-year-old unemployed American woman on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Law.

Police said the woman, who lives in Nara City, is accused of conspiring with others to import five bottles of marijuana liquid (approximately 4.27 grams) from the United States on Nov 7, 2025, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Osaka Customs discovered a suspicious package at Kansai International Airport. The bottles of marijuana liquid were concealed in bags of wheat and other goods.
