UK: Haulage firm boss involved in £3.3m drug smuggling operation jailed

A UK haulage firm boss who used his business as cover for transporting huge amounts of cocaine has been jailed after his encrypted crime syndicate chat was cracked. Guy Mitchell, 56, from Blaydon on Tyne, Tyne and Wear, was part of a serious crime operation which smuggled £3.3m drugs to the UK from the Netherlands, and also used his drivers to ferry cocaine around the UK. But he was snared by the National Crime Agency’s Operation Venetic which revealed how he was using his haulage firm as a seemingly legitimate business whilst using the vehicles to transport cocaine.
