Moroccan police have opened a judicial investigation after arresting two women from sub-Saharan Africa at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport with nearly 15 kilograms of cocaine concealed in their luggage, security authorities said Wednesday.
The suspects, aged 40 and 52, were detained shortly after arriving on a flight from a sub-Saharan African country, according to Moroccan police. Customs inspections and baggage searches uncovered 14.8 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside their personal belongings.
The women were placed under investigation under the supervision of prosecutors as authorities seek to identify possible international links connected to the trafficking operation and determine the wider network behind the shipment.
