Police in Faro have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly fled the scene of a car crash on the A22 motorway, leaving behind packages of hashish he was trying to transport.
Police believe the man tried to flee on foot when he realized he couldn’t start the engine and tried to take as many drugs as possible with him. Officers found multiple packages around the vehicle and along the side of the highway.
A man is suspected of causing a car accident by hitting road barriers in Albufeira at high speed.
The case, which began on December 16, was investigated by PJ police, who located the suspect this week and conducted searches of his home, resulting in the seizure of 200 grams of marijuana.
The suspect will await trial in custody.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man was also arrested in Albufeira after fleeing traffic control.
He reportedly threw 55 doses of cocaine and 47 doses of hashish out of a vehicle window after refusing to stop. The man was later detained by police and will appear in court.
