Representatives from Canada’s cannabis industry met with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service hosted at Canada’s High Commission in London, UK, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Attendees say the meeting highlights the Canadian cannabis industry’s position on the international stage, as well as the federal government’s growing support for Canada’s medicinal cannabis export industry. It also served as a follow-up from a May 4 meeting in Ottawa with similar attendees and topics.
Both meetings were coordinated by Deepak Anand, Chairperson of the recently formed Canadian Association of Cannabis Exporters (CACE), who says they focused on fostering meaningful dialogue between industry and government at a critical time for Canada’s medical cannabis sector, as more countries are beginning to increase their own exports.
“As global competition increases, Canada’s leadership cannot be taken for granted,” Anand tells StratCann. “Bringing together industry leaders, Global Affairs Canada, and the Trade Commissioner Service is an important step toward ensuring Canada continues strengthening its position as a global leader in medical cannabis trade, innovation, and regulatory credibility.”
The meeting was attended by Anand, Omar Khan (High Tide), Aras Azadian (Avicanna), Dirk Heitepriem (Aurora Cannabis), Dave Auger (Big League Genetics), Brianne Arneson (Cronos), Natasha Ryz (Dycar Pharmaceuticals), Sebastien Desormeau (Exka), Edward Woo (Village Farms), Ryan Yablonsky (Green Joy), David Hyde (Hyde & Associates), Jocelyn Prefontaine (Kierton), Will Muecke (Global Cannabis Regulatory Summit), Dana Baranovsky (Elevated Signals), Kris Newell (Decibel), Graydon Welbourn (White Ash), and Nathalie Kubrick (Curaleaf International (NGC)).
Canada has dominated the international medical cannabis space in recent years, helping to supply demand in markets like Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Germany, and the UK.
