Tilray Brands announced today that it has reached a deal to acquire HelloMD Corporation’s Canadian medical cannabis assets, adding a digital healthcare and patient engagement platform to its medical marijuana operations.
The acquisition remains subject to formal court approval, which Tilray said is expected June 29. Financial terms were not disclosed.
HelloMD operates as a digital healthcare platform focused on medical cannabis education, physician consultations and patient support. The company has helped hundreds of thousands of patients connect with healthcare practitioners for medical cannabis guidance.
Tilray said the acquisition will add HelloMD’s telehealth consultation services, educational resources and digital patient engagement tools to its existing medical cannabis platform in Canada.
Blair MacNeil, president of Tilray Canada, said the deal “establishes a fully vertically integrated medical cannabis framework for Tilray in Canada while strengthening our broader global platform, expanding patient engagement, practitioner support, and access in regulated medical markets.”
Larry Lisser, CEO of HelloMD, said the company has focused on making medical cannabis more accessible through technology, education and trusted healthcare experiences.
Tilray said it intends to use HelloMD’s digital capabilities to build awareness of medical cannabis alternatives among patients seeking natural health options, subject to applicable regulations.
Tilray currently supplies medical cannabis to patients, physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, researchers and governments in 20 countries across five continents. The company’s medical cannabis operations include cultivation and manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical distribution and medical cannabis clinics in North America, Europe, Australia and other international markets.
The acquisition marks another step in Tilray’s effort to expand its medical cannabis infrastructure by combining product supply, healthcare practitioner support and digital patient access.
