Sri Lanka: Hashish worth Rs. 11.87 mn found in bins inside women’s washroom at BIA

Customs officials at Katunayake Airport seized a stock of “Hashish” valued at Rs. 11.87 million, left inside two waste bins in a women’s washroom near Luggage Belt No. 03 in the ‘Arrivals’ terminal, during the early hours of yesterday (03).

The stock of Hashish, weighing over one kilogramme was packed into seven packets. Several pairs of women’s shoes and items of women’s clothing were also found discarded inside the waste bins alongside the drugs.

Customs officials suspect that the contraband was dumped in the waste bins due to suspicion arising, just as the suspect was about to exit Katunayake Airport. The stock of Hashish is to be handed over to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotic Bureau officers for further investigations.
