The Mexican Navy recently seized 4 tons of cocaine in the waters off the coasts of Chiapas and Oaxaca.
According to Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar Harfuch, the bust was the result of maritime surveillance. He posted on X that the navy seized three boats and detained 13 individuals in addition to confiscating more than 4 tons of cocaine.
Harfuch said the operation will prevent “millions of doses (of cocaine) from reaching the streets and significantly impacting the operational and financial capabilities of criminal organizations,” adding that under the current administration, the navy has seized more than 80 tons of cocaine in the waters off the coast of Mexico.
