BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham VA Health Care System is hosting a research study to better understand the effects of psilocybin in reducing symptoms of depression that have not responded adequately to previous trials of antidepressant medications.
Psilocybin is a psychedelic drug that can be used in research studies. Study participation involves five psychological support visits, two psilocybin dosing sessions and approximately 11 research visits over nine months.
