Antwerp furniture dealer accused of trafficking hashish from Morocco
The owner of a furniture store in Antwerp is set to appear before the investigating chamber on August 19, facing accusations of hashish trafficking from Morocco. Investigators allege that the drugs were concealed within traditional furniture and shipped to Belgium. The 61-year-old is currently before the judges, who will decide on his pre-trial detention. In the meantime, the investigation continues, and the shop, Nador Decor, has been ordered to close by the courts.
Local media report that the store is well-known in the neighborhood. The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office suspects it might have been a cover for drug trafficking, especially after identifying several financial irregularities. Among other findings, investigators discovered that the business had been operating without a valid VAT number since 2019, yet the suspect continued to receive payments and cash deposits into his bank accounts.
The judicial investigation began in early 2025, leading to a search of the store. Beyond the alleged drug trafficking, police are also investigating whether the illicit profits were funneled back into Morocco.
