Four defendants pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges they were involved in manufacturing psychedelic drugs at a Lagunitas residence.
The defendants are Starlight Makonen, 23; Forever Makonen, 25; Isaiah Makonen, 28, and Sarah Gilmore, 22. A fifth defendant, Mark Woodard, 58, delayed a plea because he had recently hired a lawyer.
Marin County sheriff’s investigators arrested the defendants on Aug. 5 and seized 26 pounds of hallucinogenic drugs. Authorities allege the suspects produced the hallucinogen dimethyltryptamine, or DMT.
The defendants are charged with counts that include manufacturing illegal drugs, possessing drugs for sale, conspiracy and evidence destruction.
“It was hastily investigated and the charging decision reflects that,” Morgan Daly, the attorney for Isaiah Makonen, said after the hearing Wednesday.
Marin County Superior Court Judge Kevin Murphy scheduled a preliminary examination of the evidence for Sept. 8.
