A cleaning crew expecting to tidy up an Airbnb in Martinez instead stumbled upon something considerably less routine: 23 pounds of marijuana.
Saturday’s discovery at a home on Stardust Drive in the West Hills subdivision led investigators to 23-year-old Ronnie Striggles Jr. of Augusta, who was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Columbia County authorities.
Maj. Andy Shedd said sheriff’s investigators were contacted after the cleaning service found a large amount of marijuana inside the Airbnb and notified the homeowner. Officers responded and found about 23 pounds of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of cash and materials used to package drugs, Shedd said. Two handguns also were found.
The investigation ultimately tied the drugs, cash, packaging materials and firearms to Striggles, according to authorities.
