Maine’s Office of Cannabis Policy is continuing its Safe Storage for ME program, offering 12,000 free lockable storage bags to cannabis patients and consumers statewide.
The bags will be distributed through more than 140 participating medical and adult-use cannabis retailers, as well as public health advocates from all nine of Maine’s public health districts.
The program is intended to help prevent accidental access to cannabis products by children, pets and guests.
During a 2024 pilot program, the state distributed 5,000 storage bags through 222 participating retailers.
Any medical cannabis patient at least 18 years old or adult-use cannabis consumer at least 21 years old may receive one bag, with no purchase required.
The bags are being distributed to participating retailers on a rolling basis.
