A recent traffic stop in Washoe County, Nevada, led to the seizure of 5.4 pounds of uniquely-packaged cocaine.
A K9 with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office sniffed out the narcotics during the stop, which occurred on Interstate 80 near Mogul Road, officials said in a news release Friday.
Finding illegal drugs isn’t an abnormal part of a traffic stop. But what made this stop unique was the packaging — the cocaine was inside bundles that were labeled “CNN International.”
It isn’t the first time law enforcement has seized drugs inexplicably labeled with the name of the Atlanta-based cable channel. In 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers seized 44 pounds of fentanyl labeled “CNN,” FOX40’s sister station WFLA reported at the time.
The Nevada deputies arrested the driver, 51-year-old Jesse Fisher, and booked him at the Washoe County Detention Facility. He faces felony charges for allegedly possessing and trafficking a controlled substance.
