Lawyer: Dutch footballer Promes has testified on 1,350-kg cocaine-trafficking charges

Former Dutch football player Quincy Promes first gave extensive statements last summer during a closed hearing about his role in the drug trafficking of more than 1,350 kilograms of cocaine, his lawyer said during an appeals hearing on Monday.

The 34-year-old Promes was questioned for a full day in June about his and his cousin Marylio V.’s role in a 2020 cocaine-smuggling case. “He explained how he became involved in the case,” his lawyer, Geert-Jan Knoops, told the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. He also said that Promes discussed encrypted phones.
