Four men have been convicted in federal court for their roles in what prosecutors say was a “conspiracy” to bring cocaine from Mexico into Montgomery.
One of those convicted, Michael Evans, was an Alabama State Trooper, prosecutors say.
Jim Carter Jr., 58, of Montgomery; Francisco Lopez, 39, of Texas; Michael Evans, 53, of Montgomery; and Bryce Johnson, 38, of Union Springs, were found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, said Kevin Davidson acting United States attorney for the Middle District of Alabama. The jury convicted Carter and Lopez on an additional charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, said Steven Hofer, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans office.
