Almost 30 pounds of cocaine was seized following a traffic stop with a child present in the car, deputies said.
Detectives reported they made contact with the driver, Kim D. Hill, 52, Houston, TX at a a traffic stop on a car on I-10 near mile marker 42 for a traffic violation on March 31. When detectives approached the car, they observed a five-year-old child seated in the front passenger seat.
While speaking with Hill, deputies said they observed signs of in transit criminal activity. Deputies searched the vehicle and deployed a K-9 drug detection dog who allegedly provided a positive response to the odor of narcotics emitting from the car. Upon search of vehicle detective located 12 packages concealed inside the trunk that contained a total of 29.8 pounds that tested positive for cocaine. The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics is $500,000, deputies said.
Hill was arrested and charged with possession of CDS II with intent to distribute; and cruelty to juveniles, deputies said.
