The National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) he announced the release of his first university extension course on medicinal cannabis, a virtual proposal aimed at the responsible management of the plant and developed together with organizations in the Argentine cannabis sector.
The training is designed for people with different levels of experience, even without prior knowledge, and will offer UNTREF university certification. The program will last six weeks and will address content related to the history and culture of cannabis, the current legal framework in Argentina, responsible cultivation techniques, applied technology, artificial intelligence and the design of its own cultivation plan with formal validity.
The course has the support of the Civil Association Cultivadores Rioplatenses, the Civil Association Cultivar Salud and the Civil Association 33 Orientales, all with experience within the local cannabis movement. Fluxo, a company specialized in cultivation technology, also participates.
“We seek to educate future representatives of the cannabis industry in the country. Today Argentines need more and better educational alternatives and, very importantly, university certification. It is the first step towards the formalization of an industry that has been growing exponentially”, said Joaquín Walter, Academic Coordinator of the course.
The proposal will be dictated by an interdisciplinary team made up, among other profiles, of Dr. Magalí Avruj, a doctor specialized in therapeutic cannabis and integrative medicine; Eric Turiansky, specialist in cannabis cultivation and genetics; Kevin Daich Kraicer, lawyer at the WE Legal Law Firm and legal reference for the Argentine cannabis industry; Federico Cima, founder of Cannect, a software company for the sector; and Cristian Borgo (@cris.roots), cannabis popularizer, contributing writer for the magazine THC and president of the Cultured Civil Association Cannabis Salud.
Registration will open in July and the course is scheduled to start in August 2026. According to reports, the value will be around $100,000.
