Australia: Tasmanian Hemp Association’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028

Strategic Plan

The Tasmanian Hemp Association’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028, sets a clear pathway for Tasmania to lead the growth, coordination and long-term development of the hemp industry in Australia.

The plan builds on Tasmania’s strong regulatory and licensing framework and the collaboration already underway between growers, processors, researchers and government.

The Strategic Plan is structured around five clearly defined pillars that guide THA’s priorities and actions through to 2028:

1. Advocacy – Strengthening industry advocacy and representation for Tasmanian hemp
2. Market Development – Growing market development and value-added opportunities across food, fibre and materials
3. Research and Innovation – Supporting research, innovation and best practice to underpin evidence-based growth
4. Industry Capability – Building industry capability and workforce development to support long term expansion
5. Sustainability – Enhancing member services, sustainability and governance to ensure a strong and credible peak body

Tasmania’s strength lies in the close collaboration between growers, processors, researchers and government, enabling the production of high-quality seed and hemp food, fibre and building materials, and strengthening the state’s position as a trusted and competitive place for industry investment and growth.
