Cannabis In The Cotswolds !

The Sun, who else?

In recent years, police have busted a number of cannabis factories hidden inside sheds and warehouses that look like any other industrial building.

Hidden in plain sight and disguised by their tranquil surroundings, it’s a criminal enterprise that seems straight out of Guy Ritchie’s hit series The Gentlemen.

But the reality is far less glamorous, with growers often forced to live on-site in squalid conditions. And the farms are only a spark away from being burned to the ground thanks to the dodgy electrics used to power the equipment needed to grow the Class B drug.

As recently as October, a farm was discovered hidden on a run-down industrial estate in the Gloucestershire town of Tetbury, near King Charles’s Highgrove estate.

The same industrial estate recently found itself at the centre of another controversy, after neighbours were left in a “living hell” by the burning of “toxic” bonfires on the site.

Its owner, Fred Doe, has been trying to sell the industrial park for more than 18 months. There is no suggestion that Mr Doe was aware of or had connections to the cannabis farm.

The cannabis haul that police recovered in October was so large that officers ran out of extra-large evidence bags to take away the crops.

Instead, they were forced to turn to duvet covers belonging to the suspects in order to fully remove the haul.
