Some Wikipedia editors have expressed interest in organizing a 420 collaboration from Saturday, April 15 to Sunday, April 30, and especially on April 20, 2017.
The purpose of the collaboration, which is being organized by WikiProject Cannabis, is to create and improve cannabis-related content at Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects in a variety of fields, including: culture, health, history, medicine, politics, and religion.
If you are interested in supporting this effort, feel free to add your signature below and contribute to ongoing discussions. There are many ways to help, and all ideas are welcome!
- The purpose of this project is for experienced Wikipedia editors, who may or may not edit cannabis articles often, and people who are familiar with cannabis topics, but do not edit Wikipedia regularly, to create and improve related content on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. Bringing these two groups together, even for a short period of time, has the potential to improve many articles on the Internet’s largest and most popular general reference work.
- We seek the inclusion of neutral, appropriately sourced facts. We want Wikipedia to have accurate, reliable information about cannabis, just like we want there to be trustworthy content about battleships, fungi, and your favorite episode of The Simpsons.
- We have no political agenda. We are not activists advocating for legalization. If you want to edit an article about an anti-drug program, or expand a section about the negative health effects of smoking, great! We welcome your participation. All we’re promoting here is free knowledge.
During the campaign, we could display the following list of suggested articles to create:

New to editing Wikipedia? Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines and only add content about notable cannabis subjects. These links and videos, which we’ve borrowed from Art+Feminism‘s “Resources” page, may be of some help:
