A hydroponic farmer has purchased a plot of land in Queensland for A$4.65 million as part of ongoing plans to construct a cannabis facility near Ipswich.
Drew Steptoe, who runs Hydroganics, acquired the 225-hectare plot in Mutdapilly from camel farmer Paul Martin.
It is understood the land will form part of Hydroganics’ $333 million facility under construction in the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland.
The construction was given major project status by the federal government in 2019 with a planned completion date of 2023.
Cannabiz has contacted Steptoe for comment.
Along with the ambitious medicinal cannabis project, Steptoe runs The Tree Co Farm, which supplies plants for large residential and commercial developments.
