More than 500kg of cocaine was found hidden inside frozen tuna at the port of St Petersburg in Russia.
The bricks of class A drugs had to be removed from the fish using chainsaws, with the carcasses prised open with shovels.
One officer could be heard shouting, “caviar, caviar”, as he uncovered the haul.
The cocaine was ensconced in a shipment of legally imported tuna at a container terminal in the port, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said.
“At least 500kg of narcotics concealed in legally imported frozen whole, uncleaned tuna carcasses were discovered and confiscated in a cargo container arriving from Ecuador,” they added in a statement.
Photographs showed the fish lined up in neat rows in front of more than 100 bricks of cocaine.
