Entry Level/Intermediate Associate Attorney Position
Established downtown Boston zoning, development, permitting, land use, licensing, administrative law, cannabis licensing, and government relations law firm is seeking an energetic and reliable self-starter to join its team as an associate attorney. Ideal candidates will have entry level or intermediate legal experience and a willingness to work closely with firm partners and associates in the firm’s ever-changing and growing practice. Candidates should show an interest in developing relationships within the Boston governmental and political sphere. Candidates should also demonstrate motivation to network and earn new clients for the firm. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and teleconferencing (i.e. zoom, skype, etc.) platforms is required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Meeting with new clients in concert with firm partners to foster new client relationships;
- Conducting client intake;
- Drafting and creating client contracts and fee agreements;
- Providing a high level of client contact and maintaining existing client relationships;
- Researching and drafting legal memoranda with respect to the Boston Zoning Code and other municipal ordinances and regulations;
- Drafting and filing appropriate documents with various City of Boston Agencies;
- Researching and preparing presentations for abutters meetings, before community groups, and at meetings with various City of Boston agencies;
- Representing clients and presenting development proposals at local community meetings throughout Massachusetts;
- Drafting and filing associated legal documents; and
- Developing a strong knowledge and practical understanding of the Boston Zoning Code.
Qualifications Required:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an American Bar Association (ABA) Accredited Law School;
- Admission or pending admission to the Massachusetts State Bar;
- 0-3 years of legal experience;
- An interest in working in land use, zoning, development, licensing, real estate and administrative law; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and teleconferencing platforms.
