Fourth director in two years takes over at New Mexico’s Cannabis Control Division

The former manager of a multi-location cannabis operation in Colorado is now New Mexico’s Cannabis Control Division director. The department issued a news release Monday announcing the hire of Todd Stevens, who started with the division this week.

According to the release, Stevens had worked since 2015 as a manager at Native Roots Cannabis Co., one of the Colorado’s largest cannabis companies. He was credited with creating an interactive classroom that included retail sales training program.

A department spokesman said Stevens’ salary is $120,000 a year.

The division, charged with overseeing New Mexico’s cannabis industry, has had three other directors since summer 2021: Kristen Thomson, Carolina Barrera and Andrew Vallejos.
