So-called ‘frozen hashish’, a higher-powered version of the narcotic, has hit the Naples drug market, police said Thursday.
Only 24 hours after the seizure of ‘white hash’, which arrived in the Naples area first, the Carabinieri intercepted the new and extremely expensive variant of hashish.
Some 45 grammes of frozen hash were found in the home of a convicted felon.
This is another form of the drug processed to achieve ever higher concentrations of the active ingredient.
Frozen hashish is a resin obtained through cold processing that allows the resin glands of cannabis to be preserved and concentrated.
The result is a particularly valuable product on the illegal market, but above all, it is characterized by a very high THC content (the active ingredient in cannabis).
And the price clearly illustrates the new market frontier: frozen marijuana can sell for up to 80 euros per gramme.
This isn’t just a Neapolitan phenomenon.
In recent months, a batch of frozen marijuana was also seized in Trento.
And the phenomenon must be seen in a European market where cannabis potency is constantly increasing.
The operation was launched in Melito di Napoli by police from the Giugliano in Campania company’s operations unit.
