2026-04-10 | The Green Party in the Bundestag is advocating for faster approval processes for cannabis clubs. According to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND), the Greens’ drug policy expert Linda Heitmann called for quicker and more reliable establishment procedures to counter the black market. It is a positive signal that more people want to cultivate collectively. According to Heitmann, federal states must improve processes through exchange of best practices and less bureaucratic support.
Criticism of current implementation also comes from SPD MP Carmen Wegge, who stated that cultivation associations are systematically obstructed in Bavaria, as approvals are effectively granted only in scarcely existing special zones. An RND survey confirms that Bavaria, with nine clubs, has the fewest approvals nationwide.
Ates Gürpinar, spokesperson for the Left Party parliamentary group, stated that curbing the black market is failing due to implementation issues and accused the CDU of blocking progress.
