The German Social Accident Insurance published the revised information 206-009 “Addiction prevention in the workplace” in May 2025. The guideline supports companies in addressing risks such as accident hazards and performance impairments due to substance misuse in a legally compliant manner. The main reason for the revision was adaptation to the Cannabis Act (KCanG) as well as to the new ICD-11 classification.
The brochure provides concrete tools for conducting discussions with affected individuals and incorporates current WHO recommendations on alcohol consumption as well as new data on behavioral addictions. It also defines the responsibilities of all internal stakeholders within occupational health management to sustainably protect safety and the social environment within teams under the legal framework applicable since 2024.
