Medical cannabis consumers may not have fond memories of the iconic Supreme Court Justice.
The case made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, where, by a vote of 7-2, the previous decision of the Arizona Supreme Court to throw out the evidence was overturned.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Sept. 18 at age 87, dissented from her colleagues, stating: “It is repugnant to the principles of a free society that a person should ever be taken into police custody because of a computer error precipitated by government carelessness. As automation increasingly invades modern life, the potential for Orwellian mischief grows.”
It was a scathing rebuttal and one of the few times that Justice Ginsburg stood up for cannabis consumers.
