A Mayo man caught with cannabis and more than €45,000 in cash has been spared jail after a judge said a custodial sentence would undermine his recovery from addiction.
Judge Eoin Garavan suspended a two and a half year sentence imposed on Martin Rice (47), of Thomas Street, Castlebar, County Mayo, and told him to get a job and never relapse into drug addiction.
