Major drug seizure near the A21: Carabinieri in Voghera arrest a 35-year-old with 320 kilos of hashish.
The Carabinieri of the Voghera Company continue their anti-drug operation. In the last few hours, a rapid intervention by the military led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and the arrest of the driver of a van stopped during a territorial patrol.
The suspicious van spotted during patrol
A patrol from the Operations and Radiomobile Unit noticed a van suspiciously driving near the A21 motorway toll booth. The officers then decided to stop the vehicle for a roadside inspection.
The driver’s nervousness and the search of the vehicle
The van was driven by a 35-year-old man. Upon seeing the Carabinieri, the driver immediately displayed a nervous and wary attitude, a circumstance that aroused the officers’ suspicions. The officers therefore decided to conduct a thorough investigation by searching the vehicle.
In the cargo area there were nine bags full of hashish blocks
The inspection revealed nine bags packed with hundreds of blocks of hashish inside the cargo area. The total weight of the seized substance was 320 kilograms, a particularly significant quantity that, according to investigators, was intended for drug trafficking.
