Libya: Five people sentenced to life and 10 years in prison for cannabis cultivation

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated legal proceedings against five defendants found guilty of cultivating cannabis for trafficking on a farm in the Wadi al-Akki area.

The Bayda Criminal Court reviewed the case and, in its final session, found the defendants guilty. The court sentenced the first, second, and third defendants to life imprisonment and fined each of them 50,000 dinars.

The court also sentenced the fourth and fifth defendants to 10 years in prison each and fined them 3,000 dinars. The ruling also included the deprivation of all convicted individuals’ civil rights.
