Litigation Attorney & Transactional Attorney (Bay Area)

We are a small, but quickly growing boutique law firm focused on representing clients in and around the legal cannabis industry. Our clients include individuals and start-ups, as well as some of the largest cannabis businesses in the world. We represent clients in a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including those involving breach of contract, partnership, intellectual property, real estate, and antitrust claims. Our insurance and risk management practice offers clients sophisticated and innovative solutions for insurance procurement, advice regarding captive insurance options, and insurance recovery. We also work with emerging companies on transactional matters, corporate governance, permitting, licensing, and compliance. Our work regularly presents the opportunity to work on cutting edge legal issues. We are looking to find colleagues who collaborate well, are detail-oriented, contribute their ideas as well as their time, and are self-driven to produce high quality work product and help the team succeed.
We are currently seeking help on a few different fronts. We would like to find:
- Litigation Attorney with 5-10 years of experience in commercial litigation, experience managing cases, and an ability to help us deliver top quality legal services to our clients. Qualified candidates should have extensive experience with written discovery, taking and defending depositions, motion practice, representation of clients at trial and/or ADR proceedings, and day-to-day case management of a busy litigation case load.
- Transactional Attorney with 5-10 years of experience in corporate formation and governance, reviewing purchase and sale agreements, due diligence reviews, and providing corporate legal advice, ideally including significant experience working with start-ups and early-stage companies.
Successful candidates will have exceptional analytical and problem solving capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients. Preference to those with significant experience at large or mid-sized law firms. Expertise in insurance coverage and/or cannabis law is also a plus.
We primarily a cloud-based firm, so the attorney positions can be completely remote, except when you are appearing physically in court (which some courts are now requiring). Joining us in person at our office in Walnut Creek is also an option.
