Rabat’s judicial police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, intercepted an international drug trafficking operation in the early hours of Monday, March 2, securing a shipment of 1 tonne and 190 kilograms of hashish, authorities said.
Initial information indicates officers spotted a commercial vehicle with forged licence plates abandoned near a residential area in Bouznika after its tires were punctured, police said. A search of the vehicle uncovered 29 packages of hashish, weighing a total of 1.19 tonnes, believed prepared for international smuggling.
Security operations and investigations are continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to identify and apprehend suspects involved in possessing and trafficking the seized consignment, the statement added.
The operation forms part of ongoing joint efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance to combat international drug trafficking in Morocco.
