(WKRC) – An Ohio marijuana dispensary closed amid an investigation into multiple serious health events.
According to a press release, Vext Science voluntarily closed its Herbal Wellness Center dispensary in Jackson, Ohio, while state cannabis regulators investigate two serious adverse health events.
The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control requested the closure, according to a news release from the company. Regulators believe the individuals involved may have purchased products from the Jackson dispensary.
Vext said it has not received details about the individuals, products allegedly used, purchase dates or other circumstances that would allow it to independently assess the reported events or determine whether its products were involved.
The company said it is not aware of substantiated evidence showing that a Vext product caused or contributed to either event.
Vext said it is cooperating with the investigation by providing product samples for independent testing and voluntarily quarantining certain product lines at its Ohio retail and manufacturing locations. The company said all inventory had previously passed required testing at state-licensed laboratories.
“The health and safety of our customers is our highest priority,” Vext CEO Eric Offenberger said. “We take these reported events seriously and are committed to full cooperation with the Division of Cannabis Control as it conducts its investigation.”
