Ohio: Smoke shop owner jailed for selling cannabis gummies

Akeed Abdo Ahmed Saleh, 38, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and operating without a city business license. He was arrested after Starkville police executed a search warrant at his business, Bulldog Smoke Shop at 303 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and found he was offering THC gummies and vape cartridges for sale that contained THC. Bulldog Smoke Shop is not a licensed cannabis dispensary, and the products contained higher THC levels than the .03 percent allowed by state law.

A Starkville police press release said the products came to the department’s attention after a reported adverse reaction. This is one of multiple recent reports of adverse reactions after consuming THC gummies, the release said, and incidents have not been isolated to Bulldog Smoke Shop.

The release also advised consumers of such products to check packaging to make sure what they are buying is legal and from a known source.
