SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (KFOR) – Authorities have new details after a massive explosion killed one person and injured another early Thursday morning in Sand Springs.
The set of warehouses that was part of the explosion was located in the business district near 420 South Lincoln.
Police said a massive fire broke out after the explosion. Fire crews then went inside and found the two people.
Throughout the day, ATF, Fire, Police, and more were stationed in the parking lot, waiting to go inside to investigate.
“I got a call at two in the morning from one of our business neighbors, and he told us, ‘hey’ Hey, everything’s gone,” said Will Goodpasture. He owns a business in one of the units that were affected.
Goodpasture showed up Thursday afternoon to see if he could go inside, but couldn’t.
“I came out here to see it all, and it looked like absolute destruction,” said Goodpasture. “You know, this is an incident that you don’t wish upon anybody. And to see that happen, it makes you sit there and wonder.”
The cause of the explosion is not known yet. Business owners tell News 4 that several of the buildings house all types of inventory.

The investigation into what caused the explosion continues, police said it could take days to figure it out.
One positive light from the situation was that a rabbit that was in one of the units was rescued and survived.
