Portugal: Cannacare is no longer listed among the companies licensed by Infarmed.

The company Cannacare, Inc. is no longer listed in the most recent public lists of entities authorized for activities related to medicinal cannabis in Portugal, published by the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products I.P. (Infarmed). According to an analysis of the updated lists, the company no longer appears among the entities with active licenses for operations such as cultivation, import, or export of preparations and substances based on the cannabis plant.

Cannacare, a company incorporated in 2019 and based in the Lisbon district, had announced that it would obtain its Infarmed license by the end of 2023, with plans to produce EU-GMP certified dried cannabis flower for international markets, including Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

The company’s absence from the official listings may indicate the expiration or non-renewal of authorizations, a possible abandonment of the project in Portugal, or the existence of technical or administrative non-conformities identified by the regulator. However, to date, no official clarification has been published by the company or Infarmed regarding the reasons for this change in status.

It is worth remembering that, in Portugal, activities such as the cultivation, manufacture, import or export of cannabis-based products for medicinal purposes can only be carried out after specific authorization from Infarmed, the entity responsible for supervising and licensing the sector.
