Tasmania positions itself as a leader with release of industry plan
The Tasmanian Hemp Association (THA) has released its Strategic Plan 2025–2028, setting out a clear pathway for Tasmanian to lead the growth of the hemp industry in Australia.
Recognising the significant opportunity for Tasmania in this growth industry, the plan sets a clear direction for industry development, building on the state’s strong regulatory and licensing framework and recognising the collaboration already underway between growers, processors, researchers and government.
The Plan is structured around five clearly defined pillars that guide THA’s priorities and actions through to 2028:
- Advocacy – Strengthening industry advocacy and representation for Tasmanian hemp
- Market development – Growing market development and value added opportunities across food, fibre and materials
- Research and Innovation – Supporting research, innovation and best practice to underpin evidence based growth
- Industry capability – Building industry capability and workforce development to support long term expansion
- Sustainability – Enhancing member services, sustainability and governance to ensure a strong and credible peak body
