GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 51-year-old man who had previously been deported twice was sentenced on April 14 as part of the largest cocaine bust in Green Bay’s history.
According to a release from Brad D. Schimel, the First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Ruben Salgado-Espinoza had been deported twice to Mexico, and his 169-month prison sentence stems from leading a large drug trafficking organization.
Salgado-Espinoza’s organization operated out of a Rockford, Illinois, compound, where it distributed hundreds of kilograms of cocaine received in bulk shipments from Mexico.
The group used modded vehicles designed to conceal and transport illegal drugs, and on April 22, 2025, he was arrested in Green Bay with about 30 kilograms of cocaine, making it the largest cocaine seizure in city history.
