Senator Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from South Carolina and former Presidential candidate, lent his support last week to the bipartisan-sponsored medical marijuana bill known as the “Careers Act. Senator Graham joins Senators Corey Booker (D-NJ), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Rand Paul (R-KY), as co-sponsors of the legislation (S. 683), formally titled “A bill to extend the principle of federalism to State drug policy, provide access to medical marijuana, and enable research into the medicinal properties of marijuana.”
As reported by The Weed Blog, “The Careers Act” is the most comprehensive piece of medical cannabis legislation ever introduced in the U.S. Congress and would remedy the state-federal conflict over medical cannabis law.”
An identical bill in the House of Representatives (H.R. 1538) is sponsored by Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and Rep. Don Young (R-AK).
