ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A suspended Anchorage defense attorney pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to one count of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, a significant development in one of the largest drug trafficking cases in Alaska history.
Justin Facey, 46, appeared in person with his attorney for Monday’s hearing. Sentencing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 6.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, both Facey and the government have agreed that a sentence of no less than 10 years in federal prison is appropriate. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the remaining four counts against him — including maintaining a drug-involved premises, possession of methamphetamine with a minor present, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession of firearms by a prohibited person — following sentencing.
What led to the guilty plea
According to the plea agreement’s factual basis, on April 30, 2025, Facey possessed fentanyl and more than 5 grams of pure methamphetamine at his Anchorage residence with the intent to distribute them. Investigators also found multiple firearms, digital scales and small plastic baggies at the home. A review of his cell phone, according to the agreement, showed he regularly used it to communicate with others about buying and selling fentanyl and methamphetamine.
