Tunnel opened under chicken coop, modern hashish plantation discovered in Maliq, Albania
A sophisticated and modern method of cultivating narcotics has been discovered in Maliq, with two people under indictment.
An environment adapted for the cultivation and processing of drugs, hidden under a poultry coop in the village of Vreshtas, Maliq Municipality, has been discovered by the Prosecution’s investigations, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the announcement of another wanted.
Official sources reported that the person with the initials KL has been arrested, suspected of the criminal offense of “production and sale of narcotics”, committed in collaboration, while another person is being sought for several criminal offenses.
The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Narcotics Investigation Section, following investigations conducted using proactive methods.
During the searches, investigators discovered a secretly constructed facility under a birdcage, specifically disguised for the cultivation and drying of cannabis sativa narcotic plants. The entrance to this space was through an improvised structure leading to an underground room.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the environment was professionally organized, with walls covered with thermal insulation materials and equipped with ventilation, lighting and heating systems. Special electric lamps, temperature and humidity control equipment, air circulation pipes, and a water supply system for watering plants were installed.
Inside the space, special areas for drying cannabis were found, where the plants were hung on improvised structures. On the floor, dozens of pots filled with soil, remains of cut plant stems, as well as other equipment used for cultivating and processing the drug were found.
The investigative actions resulted in the seizure of approximately 5.4 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa, in the process of drying and packaged in small doses, a small amount of suspected cocaine, electronic scales, ventilation and lighting systems, and a pistol-shaped weapon with a compressed gas canister.
Investigations also revealed that the facility was supplied with electricity illegally, through a direct connection to the distribution network.
