Fewer people are being charged with drug offences because islanders can now get medicinal cannabis legally, the police have said.
Jersey Police has released its first Crime and Policing Statistics report looking at the first six months of 2026 comparing back to 2022.
The report looked at a range of categories including burglaries, violent assaults, complaints against the police and sexual offences.
In 2022, police recorded 170 drug crimes, with the number falling to 115 in 2025 – the report said a “key driver” was likely to be “a reduction of an illicit cannabis market in Jersey” due to “an increased provision of medicinal cannabis”.
