USA: Former Hartford building inspector among those charged in $4 million Bronx drug bust

A former Hartford building inspector was charged for his alleged involvement in a multimillion-dollar drug bust at a New York pizzeria, according to police.

Alexander Samboy, 45, was one of three men charged with trafficking around $4 million worth of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and other drugs out of a pizza shop in the Bronx, police said.

Special agent Frank Tarentino of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York division said it was one of the largest drug seizures he’d seen in the area in some time.

According to the DEA and New York Police Department surveillance, Samboy was caught walking out of the Bronx Pizza shop with a backpack on Oct. 19.

That backpack was later seized during a traffic stop and was found to be filled with 5 kg of cocaine.

The City of Hartford confirmed that Samboy was a city building inspector.

Samboy resigned from his position after he was first charged back in October.
