Seven Virginia hemp processors, growers and retailers have launched a federal lawsuit challenging the Commonwealth’s newly enacted restrictions on hemp-derived cannabinoid products.
Filed on July 31, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia (Roanoke Division), the lawsuit targets provisions in House Bill 30—the biennial state budget signed into law on June 28, 2026—which plaintiffs argue effectively decimates the state’s legal hemp industry.
