FOUR ILLEGAL CANNABIS CLUBS DISGUISED AS ‘SMOKERS ASSOCIATION’ RAIDED IN SOUTH TENERIFE

The Guardia Civil, with the support of the K9 unit from the Adeje Local Police, have dismantled a network of cannabis clubs in Playa de las Américas operating under the guise of a smokers’ association in the south of Tenerife. The operation has led to the arrest of seven people on charges of drug trafficking.

The investigation began after authorities noticed a significant increase in the number of cannabis clubs opening in the south of the island. Because of this the Guardia Civil started a thorough operation, uncovering that these clubs were not legitimate smokers’ associations but fronts for the illegal sale of marijuana and hashish.

During the months-long investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered to conduct raids on four establishments, two in Adeje and two in Arona. The raids resulted in the seizure of 45 kilograms of marijuana, 3 kilograms of hashish, and 7,000 euros in cash.

DISCOVERY OF A CULTIVATION LABORATORY

In addition to the raids, they also discovered a sophisticated marijuana cultivation and processing laboratory in an adjacent warehouse at one of the clubs. The facility contained marijuana plants in mid-growth and a storage area where the drugs were systematically organised and hidden in chests and boxes.

The detainees, along with the seized drugs and documentation, have been handed over to the Instruction Court No. 1 of Arona for further legal proceedings.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Guardia Civil and Local Police to combat drug trafficking and ensure the enforcement of the law in Tenerife.
