Moroccan police arrest a Spanish national at Ibn Battuta airport who is wanted internationally for his involvement in international trafficking of drugs, hashish and cocaine

Yesterday, Tuesday, July 2, the security authorities at Tangier’s Ibn Battuta airport arrested a 44-year-old Spanish citizen who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities of the Principality of Andorra.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the arrest was carried out upon his arrival on a flight from Spain, after his identity was confirmed through the database of the International Criminal Police Organization “Interpol”, as there was a Red Notice against him at the request of the National Central Bureau of Andorra, due to an outstanding prison sentence.

The arrested person is suspected of being linked to a criminal network suspected of international trafficking of drugs such as cocaine, hashish, ecstasy and methamphetamine between Spain and Andorra, as well as the laundering of money derived from this criminal activity.

The suspect was taken into custody pending his transfer to the competent public prosecution, and the authorities in Andorra were informed of the incident to follow extradition procedures under international legal procedures.

This arrest comes in the context of Morocco’s commitment to international cooperation in the fight against crime, especially the pursuit of internationally wanted persons in cases of cross-border crime.
