A suspect has appeared in court after police unearthed a 315-plant cannabis grow in a house.
Officers attended the three-bedroom property in Midhurst Way, Clifton, after receiving information the address was potentially being used for production of the Class B drug.
There was a strong smell of cannabis coming from within the property and the officers could hear what sounded like large industrial fans as they approached.
While the officers were in the process of forcing entry, a man eventually unlocked and opened the front door. He was swiftly arrested.
A large-scale cannabis grow was found inside the home, with an estimated street value of more than £150,000.
These plants were spread across five different growing areas, each kitted out with its own sophisticated set-up including fans and lighting.
Sertzo Kiosia, aged 25, of no fixed address, was charged with production of cannabis following the officers’ visit on Sunday morning (1 September).
Kiosia appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (3 September). He was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 1 October 2024.
PC Sam Yallop, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We uncovered a whole production line setup within this address, with trays of seedlings, plants in different stages of growth, cropped pots, and drying areas. There were also vacuum bags ready for the finished product to be packaged.
“This was a large grow with a significant street value, so I’m pleased we were able to shut it down and prevent harmful drugs from hitting our streets
“We will not tolerate those who seek to profit from the production and sale of drugs, and we will continue to do everything we can to disrupt this kind of criminal activity.
“Additionally, we often rely on intelligence provided by the public to help us identify similar activity taking place across the force area.
